The University of Florida encourages faculty to plan instructional activities to ensure continuity of education in situations that may require moving classroom instruction online.
The purpose of this plan is to help faculty and students maintain the processes and progress of teaching and learning in the event that in-person class sessions cannot be attended. The goal is to maintain the delivery of instruction as much as possible to minimize the disruption of student progress.
Faculty should plan for a transition to online and/or independent student activities in order to be prepared for unexpected emergencies. This will enable learning to continue in the absence of face-to-face instruction.
Teaching during an unexpected disruption to face-to-face classes requires flexibility, creativity, and preparation. The information on these pages is designed to help instructors think about ways to continue teaching despite student/instructor absences or campus closure.
Faculty can utilize our e-Learning platform Canvas or tools hosted outside of Canvas to continue instruction. On this site, you will find strategies and considerations to help you Get Started with a transition from in-person to online instruction. To help you go online, we have created a Canvas Quick Start Guide and curated a list of Resources to assist you with specific aspects of delivering instruction.
Please note that if you do not currently have a course in Canvas, you can request your course to be created for use.
